During my time at Hadley Media, I was part of the team who ideated, pitched and executed the TBS Island which promoted the second season of WRECKED on TBS.
The initial pitch started out as a floating island with the words “WRECKED” on it. This island would sail down the coast of California passing by beach goers. Eventually, the project evolved into building our own party island with activities, sponsors and a premiere party!
To get this project approved, detailed renderings were constantly needed every step of the way. Using Sketchup 2017, Podium Render and Photoshop I created a to scale model of the entire island. Fabricators used my CAD files to build set pieces exactly the way it was designed. I was heavily involved in coming up with many of the activations on the island such as the Coconut Tree climb (sponsored by Mountain Dew).I also designed my first miniature golf course…. it was almost impossible to get a hole in one.
It took 6 days to build the island and used over 15 tons of steel, real 20’ palm trees and an actual fuselage of a 20’ G5 airplane. It sailed down 150 miles of California coastline where it hosted the season 2 kick off party as well as a good time for thousands of passersby.
